BC Transit has unveiled a colourful Pride bus as the annual event in Victoria approaches.

“BC Transit believes in equity, diversity and inclusion and wants our customers in the Victoria Regional Transit System to ‘ride with pride’ when they get on our specially designed Pride Bus now through the end of July,” reads a BC Transit statement. “Pride is an important opportunity to recognize the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and support equity for all community members who are gender, sexuality and/or relationship diverse.”

The bus was designed by BC Transit’s graphic design team “following careful consideration and consultation with our internal Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) forum.”

Lamar Advertising provided services to wrap the Pride bus with its colours at no charge.

The Victoria Pride Festival runs from June 29 to July 9 and the bus will be taking part in the annual Pride parade on July 9, which starts at Douglas and Fisgard and runs through downtown Victoria.
