Man ticketed for driving almost 3 times the speed limit in Oak Bay

A man was issued a ticket and had his car impounded after being pulled over in Oak Bay for travelling almost three-times the posted speed limit.

On Saturday, May 11, Oak Bay police were conducting speed enforcement on Beach Drive, which is a 40km/h zone, and observed a vehicle travelling North that was travelling 116 km/h.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 32-year-old man, was issued a violation ticket of $483 for excessive speed and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

Earlier, on May 9, a vehicle was seen travelling north on the same road at 96 km/h and the driver was identified as a 19-year-old man with a novice class seven drivers license.

The man was issued a $368 ticket, and his vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
