Langford property raid uncovers 'large volume' of illegal contraband

Police were seen taking pallets 'full of boxes' from a garage on Setchfield Avenue

West Shore RCMP has said they uncovered what they believe to be a “large volume” of illegal contraband from a Langford residential property.

A raid took place at a property opposite Lakewood Elementary School on Setchfield Avenue, Monday (Dec. 30).

According to residents in the area, half a dozen officers were on the scene with drug and organized crime investigators. A K9 officer was also seen leaving the property.

An eyewitness told the Goldstream Gazette police could be seen taking pallets "full of boxes" from a garage. The boxes seized were seen loaded onto flatbed trucks parked in Lakewood's parking lot.

The RCMP has confirmed its drug and organized crime unit executed a search warrant under the Excise Act and the Customs Act, but was unable to confirm what was taken from the property.

“We did uncover large portions of what we believe is illegal contraband,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar.

“We're still going through it … we had to call in a forklift to bring out some pallets, so that's going to take some time to go through.”

Information was not available about any arrests made.
