Vancouver singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan is taking fans on a journey back to the 1990s with her Fumbling Towards Ecstasy 30th Anniversary Tour, blending nostalgia, storytelling and an exploration of the album that helped define a generation.

After an eight-year hiatus from touring, McLachlan is set to perform in Victoria on Nov. 20 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre as part of a series of performances across North America celebrating this milestone album.

Her breakthrough global album, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy sold more than 3 million copies – including 500,000 in Canada alone.

The 30th-anniversary tour features repertoire from Fumbling and other celebrated songs from her career, offering a walk down memory lane for her fans who have been with her for decades.

“Every day I feel lucky and blessed to have music in my life, it’s the best feeling to know that something I’ve created has gone out into the world and touched the lives of so many people in a positive and meaningful way,” McLachlan said on Facebook recently, where she has 1.5 million followers.

“What a gift it is to be able to share that.”

September was a relatively big month for McLachlan, as Canada Post unveiled a commemorative stamp honouring her career, and she was also inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.

In between tour stops, McLachlan is also in-studio working on material for a new album.

Off-stage, McLachlan is a dedicated advocate for animal rights and the founder of the non-profit Sarah McLachlan School of Music, which offers free music education and mentorship to children, youth and others facing barriers to access.

$1 from each ticket sale of her current tour is to be donated to the school.

She is also known for founding Lilith Fair in the late 1990s, a groundbreaking all-female concert tour that brought together women in music and raised over $7 million for charity.

With a career spanning more than three decades and a legacy of emotionally rich songwriting, McLachlan is not just celebrating the past but continuing to shape her future through her music, her philanthropy and her ongoing dedication to uplifting others – be it through her songs, the empowerment of women in music, or fostering the next generation of musicians through her school.

McLachlan’s Victoria tour-stop includes performances by Tiny Habits, a folk-pop trio of Berklee College of Music students Cinya Khan and Maya Rae and alumnus Judah Mayowa
