Hundreds of guests spanning all generations descended upon Coombs Fairgrounds as the Arrowsmith Agricultural Association and the Arrowsmith Community Recreation Association hosted their seventh annual Family Day celebration Monday, Feb. 12.

One year after the event was cancelled due to unsafe, icy conditions, organizers made up for it in a big way under brilliant blue skies. Family members ranging from babies to grandparents enjoyed free popcorn and a concession while playing an array of board games and enjoying crafts and interactive displays from Parksville Qualicum 4H Club, the Vancouver Island Garden Railway Club, Hamilton Hobby Farm petting zoo, the Parksville & District Rock and Gem club, Coombs-Hilliers Volunteer Fire Department and many more.

Residents from communities across the mid-Island made the trip for the event, which was hosted with funding from the Regional District of Nanaimo.
