RCMP investigate incident involving vehicle and pedestrian in Parksville

One person taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries

Police, fire rescue and BC EHS responded to an incident on the Alberni Highway in Parksville on Aug. 7.

A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being injured in an incident involving a vehicle in Parksville on Aug. 7.

Oceanside RCMP and other emergency first responders were called to the incident on Alberni Highway near Memorial Avenue at approximately 1 p.m., according to Sgt. Shane Worth.

"Initial information from the scene suggests there was some sort of altercation between the pedestrian and the vehicle occupants prior to the pedestrian being injured," Worth said in an email to the PQB News. "The pedestrian and vehicle occupants are known to each other."  

At this time, police investigators are trying to determine how the pedestrian became injured, Worth added. 

The pedestrian was transported by BC Ambulance with non life-threatening injuries, according to RCMP.

Parksville Fire Rescue confirmed a male patient was transported to hospital.

"A reminder to all pedestrians, cyclist, and motor vehicle operators to be aware and alert when on the roads," Assistant Fire Chief Steven Liedl said in an email to the PQB News.
