The Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce is warning residents of an email phishing scam.

The Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce is warning residents of a phishing scam currently impersonating the chamber.

Anyone who receives an email entitled "Special Report from Qualicum Beach Chamber" or a message that originates from an email domain other than @qualicum.bc.ca is asked to delete the message.

Look for suspicious email addresses — the sender email may appear to come from the chamber but the email address domain is not @qualicum.bc.ca.

Another red flag is an email with an urgent request for personal information. The chamber will never ask for sensitive information such as passwords, social insurance numbers or bank details.

Be careful with attachments or links. Claims to view messages by clicking on a link will never come from from the chamber.

If you receive a suspicious email, do not click on any links or open any attachments.

Contact the chamber directly if you receive an unexpected email or request. Ensure your computer’s antivirus software is up to date.

If you receive a suspicious email, please forward it to security@qualicum.bc.ca and delete it from your inbox.
