Cowichan Search & Rescue, with the assistance of the Shawnigan Lake Fire Department, accessed and airlifted a seriously injured mountain biker in the Burnt Bridge area of Shawnigan during the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 3.
According the CSR’s Facebook page, the rescuers were unable to land an air ambulance near the site, so an Island long-line team, consisting of members from Arrowsmith SAR-Alberni Rescue and Airspan Helicopters, was used to lift the man out to an awaiting ambulance.
“Outstanding work to all involved during a very hot deployment,” CSR said. “Best wishes for a speedy recovery for the cyclist.”
