If you'd like to see some of the best photos of the year, look no further than the winners in the People's Choice Award category at the Cowichan Exhibition in 2024.
"In 2023 the Cowichan Valley Camera club introduced a People's Choice Award to recognize the photographer and photograph that found favour with most persons visiting and enjoying the images presented," said Ed Taje, president of the Cowichan Valley Camera Club. "This was independent of the judged photographic images subject to the rules and categories of the formal competition. The award was in addition to the two awards presented by the club to the winning photograph in two of the categories."
Giving the public the chance to choose their favourite proved popular. Next year the club plans to offer a simplified ballot system Taje said.
Top prize for 2024 went to Gerry Bracken for his photo of a full moon illuminating the Kinsol Trestle. Runners up included Randy Blake's Great Horned Owlets (look closely, one of those owls has its back to you), and Ayri Niem for Border Collie.
