The Yellow Point Drama Group is presenting the new Spring Shorts production at the Cedar Community Hall starting next week.

Three short plays “filled with humour and heart” will be staged starting March 24, according to a release from the theatre group.

The first play is The Ugly Duckling, written by A.A. Milne, the creator of Winnie the Pooh. The comedic fairy tale follows a princess who was cursed so she looks “plain,” until she meets a travelling prince who can see through her family curse.

The second is local playwright Gordon Mcinnis’s On Ice, a story of two Canucks fans who become unlikely friends at a hockey game.

Departure Lounge, written by Barrie Baker, another local writer, is the final piece of the production. The play highlights two women waiting to board their flight during Christmas. After their chance meeting, they rethink what they really want to do for their holidays.

The theatrical event goes from March 24 to April 9; shows are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are available at http://yellowpointdramagroup.com ranging from $15 to $25.
