Western Edge Theatre’s founder and executive director has stepped down.
According to a press release issued by the theatre company, Frank Moher announced his resignation via social media in June with his last day as Aug. 31.
“Western Edge was dreamed up 20 years ago this fall,” said Moher in the release. “Seems like a good time for a change – for the company and for me.”
Moher founded the theatre company in 2002 and served as its artistic producer for the first 11 years.
Since then, Western Edge has presented more than 60 productions, numerous workshop stagings and special events, while keeping new plays by mid-Island writers top of mind, as well as “contemporary, cutting-edge theatre” from Canada and abroad.
Moher’s successor as the executive director will be appointed by the theatre company’s board in the coming months, noted the release.
“Western Edge is in sound shape, financially, and has gathered a lot of creative energy around it,” Moher said. “That also makes this a good time for a transition … With a resourceful board and Brianna Hamilton and Dan Puglas as co-artistic directors, the company is in good hands.”
The release also noted that Western Edge’s 2022-23 season will open in November.
