Vancouver Island University’s theatre department will tell the story of a woman who embarks into an imaginary world laden with homicidal fairies, nasty demons and ’90s pop culture.

According to a press release from the university, the dramedy She Kills Monsters, by Qui Nguyen, will be staged at the Malaspina Theatre from March 2-11 as the department’s latest production.

The play will follow the story of Agnes Evans as she comes to terms with the death of her teenage sister by adventuring into the imaginary world of Dungeons and Dragons after finding her sister’s notebook.

“Qui Nguyen’s work in this play touches on so many topics in the most beautiful way, all while giving everyone the greatest laugh all the way through,” said director Leon Potter in the release. “This is truly one to see.”

She Kills Monsters will show at 7:30 p.m. from March 2-4, and again from March 8-11, with an additional matinee performance at 10 a.m. on March 9. Ticket information can be found online at www.eventbrite.ca.
