The wrapping paper is stuffed in the recycling, the mince pies are just crumbs and granddad is asleep on the couch again. Just how many more days until the kids are back to school?

Enter Kaleidoscope Theatre and their festive production of Charlotte’s Web: The Musical; a perfect antidote for any family suffering from holiday season-induced cabin fever.

For over 40 years Kaleidoscope has been Vancouver Island’s premier producer of theatre for young people and their families. Not only does the company delight audiences with varied performances and shows, it provides education to students aged three to 17 in acting, musicianship and dance, instilling a love and appreciation for the arts.

Charlotte’s Web is one of the most enduring, and endearing, childhood tales. At the Zuckerman Farm, plucky young pig Wilbur is determined to avoid the butcher’s block. With help from a menagerie of friends, including the titular Charlotte, a most admirable spider indeed; Wilbur not only remains safe, he learns important lessons about friendship along the way.

With special Kaleidoscope magic provided by leads Tara Britt, Maggie Martin and Juliana Monk, this lively stage adaptation will warm hearts of all ages this holiday season. A matinee performance goes Dec. 28, with evening performances Dec. 28 and 29, all at the McPherson Playhouse. Tickets are available online at rmts.bc.ca,by phone at 250-386-6121 or from the theatre box office. Prices start at $25 for adults and $21 for children 16-under.
