With the traditional high season for tourism on the horizon, local and provincial tourism organizations have launched a lottery draw to accompany the Dine Around and Stay in Town food festival.

Four prize packages featuring donations from hotel and restaurant members of Destination Greater Victoria will be drawn for at noon on Feb. 7.

One package includes two round trips with Helijet, two nights in a penthouse suite at the Chateau Victoria Hotel and Suites, and gift cards for Cactus Club, Nautical Nellies Steak & Seafood House and Pizzeria Prima Strada. Another provides a night at the Inn at Laurel Point’s Erickson Wing Studio, including breakfast, two teas at the Pendray Tea House, gift cards for Bodega Bar and Il Terrazzo Ristorante, and BC Ferries vouchers.

Tickets can be purchased at the BC Hospitality Foundation’s online raffle page. The combined value of each prize package is over $4,000.

“The Dine Around 2022 lottery is a great opportunity to promote the amazing services and products of our members,” said Paul Nursey, CEO of Destination Greater Victoria in a press release. “As we enter our traditional high season in the weeks and months ahead, it is important we market our destination and support the entrepreneurs that make Greater Victoria so special. It is initiatives like Dine Around that will create the foundation for a successful 2022.”

Taking place from Jan. 20 to Feb. 6, the Dine Around food festival features over 40 participating restaurants and 12 hotels offering special three-course meals and room rates.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has created many challenges for the Greater Victoria restaurant and hotel industries. Supporting these businesses through an established brand like Dine Around creates material benefits to help overcome these challenges,” said Peter De Bruyn, chair of BC Restaurant and Food Services Association’s Victoria branch.

Funds from the lottery will go towards the BC Hospitality Foundation’s charitable work, which funds hospitality workers faced with sudden medical expenses, as well as scholarships. A BCHF scholarship will be awarded to a Greater Victoria hospitality and tourism student in May 2022, with partial proceeds from the lottery.
