Victoria’s getting snowed in this January, but not from the weather.

The 12th annual Snowed In Comedy Tour will bar the doors of a number of Vancouver Island theatres next month, as guests take in an evening of gut-busting storytelling. The tour hosts a rotating list of international comedians, with each designed to warm up those funny bones through the chilly winter season.

The Island shows — there are six — include six-time Canadian Comedian of the Year nominee Pete Zedlacher. A graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York for acting, Zedlacher, with his theatrical comedy, should feel right at home in the Royal.

Debra DiGiovanni of MuchMusic’s Video on Trial and winner of various female comedian of the year awards brings her own barbed and lightning-speed humour.

Dan Quinn has opened for numerous big names such as Russell Peters, Bob Saget and Tracy Morgan, and stand-up veteran Paul Myrehaug gets back to his stomping grounds for what is billed as “a Canadian success story.”

The Snowed In Comedy Tour began in 2009 in Canada and through word-of-mouth, snowballed into a worldwide comedy event with shows in the U.S., Europe and Australia.

Island dates include Jan. 13 in Port Alberni, Jan. 14 in Campbell River, Jan. 15 in Nanaimo, Jan. 16 in Courtenay, Jan. 17 in Duncan and Jan. 18 in Victoria.
