Comedian Darren Millar's one-person show is planned for May 9 at the MAC in Parksville.

Comedian Darren Millar's one-person storytelling show is a thought-provoking look at the realities of airport security.

'100mls of Less: Confessions of a Pat Down Expert' blends humour and honesty and will go ahead at the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville on May 9, according to a news release.

"This intimate show delves into how the choices we make (or don’t make) can take us down very different paths than the ones we set out on," the release said.

From late night talk shows to editorial cartoons, airport security is the butt of the joke. Millar turns the tables, pulling back the curtain on the realities of airport security, poking fun at passengers and his experience as a security guard.

“I never talked about working security in my standup act,” Millar said. “But offstage people were curious about the machinations of airport security.”

Millar is a standup comedian and storyteller from Vancouver Island. Since 2010, he has entertained audiences across the west coast with his blend of personal storytelling and sharp observational humour.

He’s performed at Rifflandia, Your Hood’s a Joke Roast Battle and Fringe Festivals in Victoria and Edmonton. He also produces a monthly comedy show at Beacon Brewing in Sidney.

The show starts at 8 p.m. and is 50 minutes long. The MAC is located at 133 McMillan St.

Tickets are $20 and are available online at the McMillan Arts Box Office.
