The work of a Vancouver-based contemporary artist is on display, and for sale, at the Chemainus Theatre, including a triptych piece valued at $10,000.

The theatre has always been driven to champion the arts in ways that explore and nourish the human spirit and is proud to offer the opportunity for visiting and local patrons to browse the works of BC artisans.

For every program in the season lineup gallery manager, Lorna Rivard, thoughtfully selects local artisans to feature alongside the current show and give people a chance to take home a piece of the West Coast.

For Glorious!, which started this past Friday, Rivard chose Vancouver-based contemporary artist Jeanette Jarville.

“It was originally Jeanette’s figurative pieces that attracted me,” said Rivard.“The bold use of color combined with romantic shapes is appealing—reminiscent of Modigliani, with a hint of Picasso.”

Selections from Jarville’s figurative and landscape collections are currently on display in The Gallery Gift Shop, and in the halls of the theatre. They include Spirit of the Woods, a triptych that’s priced at $10,000.

“After looking further at her other work, from the figurative, landscapes and mixed media abstracts, I am convinced she is an excellent fit for the gallery and theatre,” Rivard added. “When you meet Jeanette it is understandable how she paints feelings, depth and warmth into her artwork.”

Jarville’s work will be on display until October 6, 2018.
