Victoria Grandmothers for Africa group rides again

Group recruiting riders for annual fundraiser

Victoria Grandmothers for Africa is recruiting riders for its annual fundraiser.

Women over the age of 55 can join the group on its big, three-day, 275-kilometre ride from Campbell River to Victoria or participate in smaller rides, or go solo. Each participant sets their own mileage goal and can ride a regular bike, e-bike, stationary bike or spin bike.

The fundraiser raised over $117,000 last year.

The money goes to the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation to support grandmothers caring for children left orphaned or vulnerable by HIV and AIDS in 15 African countries.

The fundraiser runs from Aug. 13 to Sept. 10.
