A preliminary list of COVID-19 vaccination sites on Vancouver Island has identified one location in the Comox Valley as a clinic for area residents.

A spokesperson with Island Health confirmed with The Record the list is preliminary, and the health authority is finalizing it and will repost in the coming days. They confirmed all health authorities within the province will post the list at the same time.

In the Comox Valley, Glacier Gardens Arena at CFB Comox (1435 Military Row) has been identified as a vaccination site in the Valley.

B.C. is moving into Phase 2 of its COVID-19 mass immunization plan. During this phase, approximately 400,000 people will be immunized from March to mid-April, including seniors, Indigenous peoples and those who live and work in independent living.

Seniors in the province can begin booking vaccine appointments the week of March 8.

Across the Island, municipalities have begun confirming community immunization sites; in Parksville, the community centre building will be operational as the vaccination clinic for 12 hours a day, seven days a week. In Campbell River, it is set for the Campbell River Community Centre at 401 11 Ave.

The Record has reached out to Jesse Ketler, chair of the Comox Valley Emergency Operations Centre for comment.
