Scheduled power outages for Sidney on Thursday (Dec. 19) and Friday (Dec. 20) will impact about 600 residents.
According to BC Hydro, it will be working on its electrical system to maintain its safe and efficient operation.
Some of this work requires the power lines to be de-energized to ensure the safety of the public and work crews. This typically results in a one to three-hour outage for some customers.
The company said planning the outage and carrying out the required tasks will help crews avoid future unplanned emergency outages where a part of the system unexpectedly fails or malfunctions without warning.

Weekend windstorm outages
This week's scheduled power outages follow a significant power outage that struck the Peninsula over the weekend.
On Saturday (Dec. 14), a serious motor vehicle incident involving multiple transmission poles on Wallace Drive between Stelly's Cross Road and West Saanich Road caused widespread power outages to over 17,000 customers throughout the Brentwood Bay, Saanichton, North Saanich, Sidney and Swartz Bay areas. According to BC Hydro, multiple crews have been brought in to conduct the repairs.
"Due to extensive damage made to multiple critical structures, we expect the majority of customers to be without power for several hours," the company said on its website.
North Saanich and Sidney residents lost power around 11 p.m. but was restored early on Sunday (Dec. 15) at around 5:10 a.m.
