A Nanaimo bakery raised more dough during its spring fundraising campaign than any other Cobs Bread location in the country.
The Cobs Bread bakery at Terminal Park Mall supported Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank during March and April as part of a charity campaign before and after Doughnation Day on March 27.
Cobs customers were asked to add a donation to their purchases, and the Terminal Park location was able to garner a little over $11,000. Because that ended up being the highest fundraising total in the country, Cobs Bread founders matched the donation, and Cobs Terminal Park was able to present more than $22,100 to Loaves and Fishes.
Shelly Snure, owner of the Cobs Bread bakery at Terminal Park, said in an e-mail to the News Bulletin that Nanaimo is an “amazing community” and thanked everyone who contributed.
Cobs Bread’s Doughnation Day campaign raised approximately $293,500 for 70 charities nationwide.
