Craig Daniell, the executive director of BC SPCA, was on hand at the SPCA site at 7550 Bell McKinnon Rd. on Nov. 21 for a traditional ground-blessing ceremony with the Tzinquaw Dancers, in partnership with Cowichan Tribes. The SPCA in Duncan will receive $1 million to replace their 27-year-old facility at the site and redevelop a 697-square metre Vancouver Island animal behaviour centre there. Pictured is Daniell holding the ground-breaking shovel with Sarah Bjornson, the architect from Vancouver-based StudioHub Architects who is designing the building, as well as other SPCA and Cowichan Tribes members and construction workers.
