Christmas was in the air for the Silver Bells - It's Christmas in the City Square event that was hosted by the DDBIA in downtown Duncan on the evening of Dec. 5.
The event that brought out families and friends to sip, shop and enjoy some music from Tropic Mayhem on the City Square stage was a condensed version of the annual Christmas Kick off that was originally schedule for Nov. 22, but was cancelled due to a forecast of poor weather conditions.
Mayor Michelle Staples and DDBIA president Dina Stuehler invited up a few guests to join them for the countdown to light up the Christmas tree atop of city hall at 6 p.m. It wasn't just the hall that was decked out, attendees donned light up necklaces, and head wear to add to the festivities and a community Christmas celebration that was truly lit.
There was sipping, shopping, the sound of Christmas carols, and the wafting aroma of roasted chestnuts filling the air.
Those who stayed to the end got to feast their eyes on a festive firework display in the night sky.
