Calling all bird lovers!

The Campbell River Christmas Bird Count is set for Dec. 29, rain or shine (but hopefully not snow). This is the 125th anniversary of North America's longest-running citizen science project. The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) takes place in more than 2,000 locations throughout the Western Hemisphere each year, and results are used to assess the population trends and distribution of birds.

The Campbell River count circle is divided into 13 smaller areas, with teams taking on the challenge of identifying, counting, and recording all the birds in their area. Count day begins at 9 a.m. and finishes around 4 p.m.
