VIDEO: Vancouver Island woman wins prestigious BC Agriculture Council award

Owner of Courtenay’s Eatmore Sprouts Greens honoured for leadership and innovation

Carmen Wakeling, CEO and co-owner of Eatmore Sprouts & Greens in Courtenay, has been given the BC Agriculture Council’s Award for Excellence In Agriculture Leadership.

According to the BCAC website, the Award for Excellence in Agriculture Leadership is designed to honour leaders in the agriculture industry who have exemplified personal values, performance and achievement in BC’s farm community. The award recognizes the high standards of conduct, leadership, integrity, innovation and accomplishment within the agriculture and agri-food sector.

Wakeling said she was caught completely off-guard when she was told she had won the award.

“Receiving this award was very humbling for me,” she says in the video. “I had no concept that I had been nominated.

“Thank you to the organization, BC Ag Council, for recognizing me, and to all of those others out there that are working day and night, year-round, top put food on people’s tables.”
