Bryton Marine Group, the parent company of Campbell River’s EagleCraft Boats, announced it has acquired the Freshwater Marina in the city's downtown.
Freshwater Marina is known as an iconic marina, providing exceptional services and facilities. It will now operate under the Bryton Marine Group umbrella, effective April 16, according to a media release from the company. This acquisition aligns with the group's long-term goals to build the highest premium aluminum boats, says Bryton. Additionally, purchasing the marina will enhance the manufacturing capacity growth plan for EagleCraft Boats.
"We are very excited about this acquisition," said Byron Bolton, the company's CEO in the release. "This investment in Campbell River reinforces our commitment to the community and further aligns with our purpose to enrich local and maritime communities for future generations."
Torry Wannenwetsch, managing director of EagleCraft, said the marina will remain unchanged in the short term. However, there are plans to eventually build a new facility.
"The reason our group acquired it was to support the growth of EagleCraft as we've outgrown our current facility here in Campbell River," he said. "Acquiring the marina is the just the first step."
