In Loving Memory ~
In the early morning hours of November 27th, I lost my wife of 23 years, Kelly Layne Brown. Her cancer from 2017 had returned and was inoperable. She spent six months at the Trillium Lodge Hospice in Parksville. I stayed in the bed beside her for the last eleven days.
Kelly was not only my life, best friend, and eternal light of my life, she was also a force to be reckoned with, and very much a bubbly people person, which worked well for her in her career as a Server in the Food and Beverage industry. She took her job and customers very seriously and loved them all. She had a character beyond compare and really lit up a room. There will be many a client of hers that will feel the pain we are all feeling. I also had the honor of knowing the Kelly that nobody else got to know. I'm eternally grateful for that.
She gave me a life I never would have had. We were in the process of building her the house that I promised her but it was not to be. She was taken away at the tender age of 63, and we had so much more to do and experience. I love her so.
Kelly is survived by myself, her husband, Dave Winship, her daughter Maggie Sue Morrison and grandkids Chase and Calla, her fatherly cousin Lloyd and Char in Arizona, my niece and nephew Amanda and Peter Brock in Alberta, and countless friends and customers on both sides of the border.
The loss of Kelly will leave a deep void for so many. But I know she would tell me to fight through it and carry on.... She will always be in my heart.
We will have a Celebration of Life for her this Saturday, December 16th at 2pm, til??? It will be at the Qualicum Bay Resort in Qualicum Bay. Pot luck.
Please in lieu of flowers, make a donation to the B.C. Cancer Foundation in her name. She was a believer in all they did for her.
I love you Kelly, and I will see you on the other side.
Your loving husband, Dave Winship.
