Suspect pulls knife on staff at Nanaimo 7-Eleven

RCMP in Nanaimo are looking for a suspect who pulled a knife on staff at a 7-Eleven store.

According to police, the incident happened at about 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at the convenience store at 1602 Bowen Rd. when a customer was suspected of taking some food items without paying for them.

“A guy walks in, steals some items, the employees approach, he produces a knife,” said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman.

O’Brien said the man did not utter any threats and fled the store. Police attended, but the suspect was not found and police are continuing their investigation and search for the suspect.

The suspect is described as about 40 years old with a slim build and was wearing a fluffy blue winter jacket.

He was last seen running toward Bowen Park.

Anyone with information about this incident or the suspect, is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
