Police say a major medical event led to a crash and subsequent death of a driver Wednesday (Dec. 6) morning in Saanich.

Officers were called to that 700 block of Rogers Avenue after a Dodge Caravan crashed into the front porch of a house at a relatively low speed, Saanich Police Department said in a news release.

Saanich police discovered the driver, a 46-year-old woman, had suffered a major medical event and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passengers in the vehicle and occupants of the home did not report physical injuries.

The BC Coroners Service is investigating and the area reopened to traffic by early afternoon.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash, including those with dash cam footage, to call 250-475-4321.
